Coming out of school was certainly a make or break situation career wise, and I knew that once I began an apprenticeship I was closer to entering the real world of work. However, starting an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing with WSA has already taught me so many things and has made me feel positive about my career in the future. As a novice, I was keen to get stuck in, but I was aware that I didn’t have all the knowledge to do so. Along with the teams help I have begun to develop an understanding in the different software to use, such as WOLF, Less Annoying CRM and Sprout Social. I have also been able to use the skills I already have and interests I have such as writing blogs and looking at different social media platforms and their successes for each company, along with developing these skills and improving them by always discussing my work with others in the team; with their guidance I am successfully improving.
Later in the week, I have been able to put my new learnt skills to the test, working alongside my manager to discuss and publish an advert for a school and analyse analytics and data for different companies. I was also given the opportunity to write two blogs for Limestone and worked with a member of the PR and Marketing team to make the work better. I also scheduled social media updates for the company, which is something I really enjoyed doing. It is a great feeling to be proactive in learning, discussing and participating in tasks the company face each day.
Within only a week, I am already beginning to set up my days every morning I come into work and independently create something new for live projects and feel I am settling into the job well and feel comfortable in the work place. The team itself is very welcoming and helpful, making the learning process and adaptation to working life a lot easier for me. The mixture of building onto new projects for me to take on and the learning of new skills, combined with an all-round great and supportive team has certainly made up my mind that an apprenticeship with WSA was right for me.
