A fresh face in the Account Management team – meet Helena

How have your first few weeks at WSA been?

They have gone very fast! I have thoroughly enjoyed settling into a completely new environment and meeting everyone I will be working with (who are all lovely).

The team have made me feel so welcome, they have all taken time to arrange meetings with me, explaining their role within the company and how I will interact with them in my working day, this really helped me to feel comfortable in my first few weeks.

What is your area of expertise and what makes you successful in this market?

My experience in hospitality has meant that I have had a wide range of customer interactions, this will help with my current role when developing new client relationships. Hospitality has also helped me further my verbal/nonverbal communication skills and problem-solving skills, two aspects that are important when working in an environment with client interactions.

What attracted you to join WSA?

My desire for a career change started during the coronavirus pandemic. Having worked in the hospitality industry for around 4 years, I felt as if a new career path was looming. I decided to look for options that included apprenticeships as the concept of working whilst learning was appealing to me. I saw an Account Executive apprenticeship with WSA advertised and after reading the requirements of the role, I thought it would be a great opportunity that I could get involved with.

I did some research on WSA as a company, their website was eye-catching, their values, passions and goals were clear, and I found it interesting seeing all the impressive work they have completed in the past. I liked the ‘Meet the team’ option and having these areas on their website created a feeling of familiarity when arriving for my first day.

What projects have you been involved in since you started?

Since starting, I have been introduced to various software and programs that I will be using each day. I have also been involved in various meetings and have been shown case studies and previous work done by the team. I have already seen the progression of new projects and assisted other members of the account management team with tasks. All of this has helped further my knowledge of advertising as well as various clients I may get to work with more closely in the future.

What goals would you like to achieve in the next 12 months?

I will be a year into my apprenticeship and time here at WSA, so I hope to be doing well at prioritising tasks and keeping organized, balancing working with studying. I hope to be fully settled in the team and embracing any new tasks and challenges that have come my way. I am looking forward to the future and the opportunities this may bring.

What makes you laugh out loud?

Probably the TV show ‘The Office’, I have seen both the US and UK versions and both are hilarious. I can say that it is a completely different environment here at WSA and nowhere near as chaotic as the show!

Finally, tell us an interesting yet little-known fact about you!

My first word was cheese!
